Boehner: Forget Climate Change, Where Are The Jobs?

President Obama isn’t expected to unveil his sweeping plan to address climate change until next month, but without having seen the plan himself, House Speaker John Boehner is pretty sure it’s “absolutely crazy.”

President Obama’s soon-to-be-revealed second-term climate change proposal is “absolutely crazy,” Speaker John Boehner said Thursday. [...]

“I think this is absolutely crazy,” Boehner said at his weekly press conference. “Why would you want to increase the cost of energy and kill more American jobs at a time when American people are asking, ‘Where are the jobs.’”

Yeah. Where are the jobs?

Wait, I think I found some here.

A bill that would ban abortions after 20 weeks of pregnancy passed in the House of Representatives on Tuesday, with 228 members voting for it and 196 members voting against it.

The bill will now go to the Senate, where it is not expected to pass.

No, that’s not it.

Here are the jobs.

(Reuters) – The Republican-controlled U.S. House of Representatives voted to repeal President Barack Obama’s healthcare reform law on Thursday in a symbolic move aimed as much at healing internal Republican rifts as demonstrating dogged party opposition to “Obamacare.”

The 229-195 vote occurred largely along party lines and marked the 37th time the House has voted to repeal or defund the 2010 Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, which is now in the final months before full implementation on January 1.

Sorry, no jobs here either.

Charlie Pierce gets it exactly right on John Boehner, the farm bill, and House Republicans.

Mind you, Boehner couldn’t whip enough votes out of his caucus to pass this mess, which included enough hometown pork to bring Dan Rostenkowski back from the dead. Keep that in mind when you consider that he is the guy who’s supposed to get a reasonable immigration bill through this monkeyhouse. I keep hearing that they want the “Gang of 8″ proposal to get 70 votes in the Senate. This, allegedly, will “put pressure” on the House to pass a decent immigration reform bill. This is completely absurd. Pressure from whom? Boehner? Marco Rubio, who got booed in front of the Capitol yesterday? One half of the national legislature is utterly in the hands of the inmates of Bedlam. What possible reason is there to believe that anything will get done? Hell, Steve King is even nuttier on immigration than he is on poor kids.

It wouldn’t be a surprise if the current session of congress ends in January of 2015 without the passage of a single jobs bill in the House of Representatives, and I don’t need a crystal ball to tell you that Boehner will still be asking “where are the jobs?” at that time. Because John Boehner is a horse’s ass.

Nothing to add to something I could not have said better myself, but I do have a spelling error.

      Ugh.

Late spring/early summer heat and allergens kill my sinuses and thus my eyesight. You have no idea how many similar mistakes I made today. I caught most of them myself, but clearly not all.

And don’t read my Twitter feed from today. I need to delete half of it for errors.

      • i_a_c

Don’t worry about it, I’m equally hard on myself for unforced errors like that.

Wasn’t it Boehner himself who said that his top priority, when taking over as Speaker of the House, was creating jobs? Well, where are all those jobs that YOU, YOURSELF promised to create two and a half years later, huh Boehner?!!

    Fucking useless two-faced coloscopybag!

Isn’t creating and passing legislation that actually does things, like to create jobs (well to be fair more likely cutting corporate tax rates and regulations under the guise of creating jobs) your job Mr. Boehner?

Don’t wanna get lumped with all those other other government employees who are just sucking off the public teet like you go on about all the time, now do you?

  • KABoink_after_wingnut_hacker

    Nailed it!
And you didn’t even have to touch upon the millions of tax payer dollars wasted by Issa tilting at windmills every other week.

Reinvesting in cheaper, cleaner alternatives and infrastructure could only be seen as a plan to increase the cost of energy and kill jobs if you’re a Republican.

So, not only does John Boehner and the GOP want to continue subsidizing dirty energy, continue to manipulate market forces, they want to pass on the hidden costs to the victims.

    Some diabolical shit, man.

I wonder, if when Boner was a child, anyone ever forced him into the game:
“Why are you hitting yourself”?… Because that seems to be his complete overarching legislative strategy at this point.
When the President, who does not have the power to spend money, or enact laws, announces..anything… Boner’s (majority head of the legislative body that does have the power to spend money and enact laws) predictable reply is to accuse the President of not doing, that which he does not have to power to do.
“Why are you hitting yourself Mr. President?”
I wish the President would enact the time honored traditional counter employed in the game, which is to twist Boners arm behind his back, slam his face into the wall repeatedly and ask in a booming voice:
Mr. Speaker, why do you keep slamming your face into that wall?
    Metaphorically….of course..
