We’re Back On Repeal and Replace

Everything old is new again.

From The Hill

Rep. Tom Price (R-Ga.) on Wednesday said he was poised to unveil a wide-ranging replacement plan for the president’s healthcare reform law.

“We will be introducing a bill, maybe even today … that will be a comprehensive approach. There are a whole lot of things in it,” he told reporters. [...]

Price said the bill is similar to one he offered in the last Congress, which had more than 80 cosponsors.

Price’s bill would, among other things, repeal the individual mandate, turn employer-based health insurance into a glorified savings account, and bring back pre-existing conditions by forcing the sick into expensive high-risk pools.

Price says his constituents are “frustrated with Washington” because “things don’t seem to be getting done.” Yet another fruitless attempt to repeal Obamacare couldn’t have anything to do with that, could it?

If Tom Price’s bill makes it to the floor, it would mark the 38th attempt to repeal Obamacare and his constituents will continue being frustrated with Washington because nothing is getting done.

Well, it will be interesting to see specific ideas beyond “not Obamacare”. Remember how quickly support for Social Security “reform” evaporated once the details were produced?

They’re the same ideas that were proposed back in 2009.

Sorry for getting back to this late.

As I remember 2009 the Republicans were opposed to an awful lot. They were much less forthcoming when it came to what they were in favor of. DC_Wilson below has it, what do the Republicans what to do with Health Care?

This bill may be some idea.

    Oh, for fuck’s sake.

There are a whole lot of things in it.

Good to know that Tom Price can articulate his keen, detailed understanding of healthcare policy.

Wait. I thought bills with “with a whole lot of things” in them are bad?

Price says his constituents are “frustrated with Washington” because “things don’t seem to be getting done.”

And you’re one of the big reasons why people are frustrated with Washington, Pig-shit-for-a-brain!

So, he’s got the “repeal” part down. Any word on when the GOP will come up with the “replace” part?
