Cat Out of the Bag

Bless Ted Cruz for he has sinned.

Last week when no one knew about it, it wasn’t a problem, but now that everyone knows Ted Cruz is also a Canadian citizen, he plans to renounce it.

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz said Monday that he will renounce his Canadian citizenship.

The Texas Republican and tea party favorite announced his plans Monday night in a statement. The move comes in the wake of a report by The Dallas Morning News that Cruz holds dual U.S. and Canadian citizenship.

Personally I don’t care if he’s also a Canadian citizen, but I find this very amusing because he didn’t view it was a problem until everyone found out. Now that everyone knows, he’s rushing to prove that he’s a Real American just like you. Well, just like some of you, you liberal heathens.

And I’m trying to imagine the reaction if the president had revealed before he was elected that he was also a citizen of another country. It would have been a five-alarm-fire rather than this relative nothingburger. Because Ted Cruz is a white Republican.

Three years from now the idea that Cruz was once a citizen of another country will probably be painted as a conspiracy theory in a very ironic fashion. I can almost hear the cries of reverse racism now. But what Republican won’t understand or acknowledge is that if liberals bring up Ted Cruz’s origin, they’re most likely doing so for the purposes of Schadenfreude, not because they believe he’s a foreign, “exoctic,” spooky, secret-Muslim stereotype. There will be no liberal version of the crazy-hair lady telling Senator John McCain that Barack Obama is “an Arab.”

If anyone makes a very big deal out of this in the coming years, it will probably come from Ted Cruz’s right in the form of primary challengers.

I wonder if Cruz ever took advantage of “that there Canadian soshulized medycin”

He is renouncing his Canadian citizen ship show he doesn’t suddenly become a full blown socialist/communist/Stalin lover. It’s contagious.

As a Canadian all I can say is Thank God he will not be associated with my country anymore.

Comments I’ve read about him possibly able to become Canadian PM AND President of the US had me in stitches. With no Insurance Co’s running our medical care (Unless you choose that route) to abortion when necessary, to TOTAL equal rights for gays, gun regulation, no hate speech (the list is endless)……no way would a tea bagger like Cruz ever get votes in this country. In fact the thought of going BACKWARDS to those days makes me shudder.

Canadians and their “neo-colonialist” world views, can they be really be trusted?

“I did not know that being born in a country makes me a citizen of that country. I am also a 42-year-old man who has been elected to public office and wants to be President.”

I guess he just wasn’t paying attention that day in law school.

You reap what you sow… Could not happen to a more deserving guy than getting primaried by people even wackier than is he.

All it’ll take to torpedo this guy is one photoshop of him with cheese and gravy on his fries.

Ted Cruz is not eligible. You have to win 270 electoral votes for that. So he has nothing to worry about. See how easy that was?

  • BillAndersoot

Trump is gonna ballistic on his ass. Don’t ya think? Or maybe not.

I love how Lewis Black describes Ted Cruz.

He wants to shut down the government because he didn’t get his way. Cruz is a comedy goldmine.

Now that the question has been asked (dual citizenship), did his American mother ever fill out the Citizenship & Immigration Form N-600 before Rafael Edward was 18 to obtain a Certificate of (American) Citizenship for him, and if she did not, did he?

Geez…Ted sounds like a DREAMER to me! Hey, Ted….how about giving those Dreamers like you, citizenship! Bet they’d all be better than you at helping the country and giving back much more than they take…unlike YOU. What a damn hypocrite.

Where are the carnival barkers, Orly, Donald and Joe…..surely they are beginning their investigations into the Canajun Cruz fella.

This leaves me with a couple of questions:

    1. How can a guy graduate Magna Cum Laude from Harvard Law School and be so surprised to find out that, if you are born in Canada, you are a citizen of Canada?

    2. If he is a citizen of the US because his mother was born in the US, is he also a citizen of Cuba because his father was born in Cuba?

    • Victor_the_Crab

Oh snap! This is gonna make things even worse for Cruz and his sycophants. This is gonna be soooo much fun seeing the right spin this around.

      • hanadora444

I love the part where Ted’s dad fought alongside Castro in the Cuban Revolution and was later shocked (SHOCKED!) to find out Castro was a Communist!
[According to the Dallas Morning News,
“He was a guerilla, throwing Molotov cocktails and blowing up buildings,” Ted Cruz told the Austin American-Statesman for a profile published in January 2006.]

        • Victor_the_Crab

Oh, I so want the popcorn at the ready.

  • Mike_Norris

Oh how I hope the Republicans run this douche nozzle. Ted Cruz iz the biggest sack of shit the Republicans could possibly pick. He is the perfect candidate for the irony impaired. Note to Ted: You were born in CANADA! Do you think for one goddam minute we are going to FORGET THAT!!?

True, except, as we’ve seen before, the right is totally devoid of irony in them.

This story just keeps on getting better and better.

How is it that douchebags seem to always have douchey faces? He looks like a douche bag.

  • D_C_Wilson

So, when is someone going to ask about the Cuban citizenship he inherited from his father?
