Why Won’t McConnell Take Clear Positions?

It seems like it was just yesterday that the NRSCC was attacking Alison Lundergan Grimes, Mitch McConnell’s Democratic challenger, for not taking a clear position on key issues.

Today Mitch McConnell is under fire from his right for… not taking a clear position on key issues.

Jim DeMint’s cronies at the Senate Conservatives Fund have placed a $340,000 ad buy to attack McConnell for refusing to pledge to shut the federal government down to defund Obamacare.

$340,000 is a significant buy in Kentucky.

Meanwhile, Tea Party Patriots are attacking McConnell for not taking a clear position on Syria.

Bobby Alexander, the chair of the Central Kentucky Tea Party Patriots, says McConnell’s refusal to take a clear position on Syria thus far has damaged him in the eyes of Kentucky tea partiers. Alexander notes that the McConnell campaign’s efforts to brand its candidate “Leader Mitch”—to emphasize his standing in Washington—has been undercut by McConnell’s refusal to speak plainly about his position on Syria.

As I said yesterday, if the NRSCC wants to attack Grimes for not taking a clear position, they should first look to the Senate Minority Leader, or “Leader Mitch,” who will not take a clear position.

Well, get fleas is one thing. Seems like Mitch has piranhas.

Kentucky moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

I think there’s a saying around this blog that goes something like “Keep going, Republicans! You’re doing great!”
