More Evidence That Ted Cruz is a Phony

Senator Ted Cruz talks a big game. He even compared some of his fellow Republicans to Nazi appeasers prior to the government shutdown, and throughout the shutdown he continually undermined their efforts to end it. But now that it’s time to put his money where his mouth is, he’s nowhere to be found.

Cruz reportedly said that he will not help the Senate Conservatives Fund primary the Republicans who he personally compared to Nazi appeasers.

At a closed-door lunch meeting of Senate Republicans Wednesday, the freshman conservative told his colleagues that he would not intervene in their 2014 primary fights or fundraise for the controversial outside group. Cruz added that the SCF’s decision to try to defeat sitting GOP senators in their primaries was its alone, according to several people familiar with the session.

Does this mean Cruz doesn’t consider Nazi appeasers to be a big enough threat to warrant replacing?

The takeaway, at least for moderate Republicans, is that they should not listen to Ted Cruz ever again. He’s all bark and no bite.

Let’s not forget that Cruz also chose not to perform a real filibuster after weeks of attacking those who wouldn’t commit to one.

What is it they say in Texas? “All hat, no cattle”?

I’ve always thought no one could actually believe all the stupid shit he says and have made it through Harvard. But when they are being manipulated, TP people never seem to be aware of the fact. I don’t think Cruz is as dumb as he looks and acts. He was only catering to the Crazy Caucus to increase his ‘street cred’ with them come presidential nomination time. He knows he needs the Republican Party to con his way anywhere near the presidency.

Cruz met his twin goals of getting himself lots of facetime on TV and raising tons of dough for his inevitable presidential run. Nothing else actually matters to him.

When exactly did we enter this Bizarro World where senior senators are feeling threatened by freshmen?

Yeah, I still don’t believe the Tea Party is really a separate and new thing in the Republican Party. It is the same only white, low education, bigots rebranded AGAIN so the media can pretend conservatism has an intellectual side. The group does what the party needs most: reliably and consistently vote.

The same old GOP power structure is still there and still functional. Yeah, a fire-breather can gum up an election or two but ultimately when they get to D.C. they get taken to lunch to told how it all “works” and they can play ball or not. Play and the world is your oyster. Don’t play? Hope you enjoy being a marginalized representative/senator fighting to keep his/her job every election cycle.

Cruz knew what he wanted years ago and has been playing ball the whole time. Yeah, he jumped the gun on the shutdown, but most of the anger he got from his own party were people pissed they didn’t do it first and/or don’t have their voting districts locked like he does.

Today is the day of Texas, eh?
