Chris McDaniel Continues His Witch Hunt for Black Voters

The clown show in Mississippi shows no signs of abating as Chris McDaniel and his supporters continue their witch hunt for black voters who (in their mind) don’t belong.

Noel Fritsch, McDaniel’s press secretary, told the conservative Daily Caller in a report published on Monday that McDaniel’s campaign and his supporters had already found 1,500 invalid votes in Hinds County (which went for Cochran, who McDaniel challenged, in both the initial primary and the runoff). McDaniel supporters claimed that they can force a new runoff if they prove that a significant amount of the votes that separated Cochran and McDaniel were invalid.

The problem for McDaniel and Company is that, regardless of the number of supposedly invalid votes they find, there is no recount provision in Mississippi law.

In other words, the McDaniel campaign is going to spend a great deal of time telling black voters that their votes are invalid and, in the end, they won’t have anything to show for it.

It couldn’t happen to a better party.

What McDaniel may actually be doing is gathering evidence to submit a legal complaint on the election results. If all counties in Mississippi send in their final tallies of the election results on Tuesday, the state Republican executive committee will add up all of the ballots in the runoff election. Then the executive committee will pass the results to the secretary of State. Once that happens, the McDaniel campaign will have a window of 12 days to file a legal challenge.

    […]

“From everything I’ve seen, all of the information that I’ve seen, there’s no indication that he’s going to be able to in fact get something done legally,” Jackson State University political science professor Rickey Hill said of McDaniel.

No matter how this all turns out, Thad Cochrane will come out of this bloodied. The more time he and his campaign spend fighting over the runoff, the better for Travis Childers (not that he’s a great choice, either).

On the other hand, Chris McDaniel will emerge even more of a hero to the TPers than before. Can’t have everything, I suppose.

And the weird just keeps on coming.

Actually Childers is a closet Dixiecrat and McDaniel is a Dixiepublican. Thad is the only reasonable choice..

Hinds County Precinct 14. 192 invalid votes claimed, but only 37 people voted in the Democratic Primary on June 3. Even if every single one of them wanted to vote and somehow slipped past the poll workers’ checking, McDixiecrat still overstated the “invalid” votes by more than 80%. Apply that to his “1500″ claim and it becomes 300 MAXIMUM.
